Their leaves also tend to reach up toward the surface of the tank rather than lay flat. As they are very similar, this anubias is commonly misidentified as \u003cem\u003eAnubias congensis\u003c\/em\u003e. The difference is that \u003cem\u003eAnubias afzelii\u003c\/em\u003e grows larger and has some-what more oblong leaves.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003e  Anubias\u003c\/em\u003e spp. should be tied to a rock, driftwood, or other decor, not planted into the substrate. If the rhizome, the thick main stem, is buried, it will likely rot away from being smothered.
